Example :

You have to operate a water pump that requires 220 V at 30 amps.

V × A × p.f. 1000

(220 V × 30 amp × 1) / 1 000 = 6.6 KW

(p.f.) = Power factor
Single phase = 1.0 (KW + KVA)
Three phase = 0.8

(Alt. eff.) = Alternator efficiency
